Mezzo-soprano Linsey Coppens recently won 1st prize at the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions Florida District and Honorable mention at the St-Petersburg Opera Guild Competition. She also won 3rd prize at the Concours des nouveaux talents de l'art lyrique,1st prize at the Schloss Mirabelle singing competition, 2nd prize at the Prinses Christina Concours and was laureate at the Belfius Classics competition.
Her opera roles include Zenobia in Radamisto, Gianetta in L'Elisir d'amore, Cendrillon in Cendrillon, Helene in Hin und Zurück, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Baba the Turk in The Rake's progress, Bianca in The Rape of Lucretia, Milena in My friend's story, Sandmännchen in Hänsel und Gretel and Mrs.Nolan in The Medium.
As a soloist Ms. Coppens performed the Mezzo-soprano part in Duruflé's Requiem, the alto part in the Cantata BWV 182,
BWV 151, Mahler’s Um Mitternacht, Vivaldi's Gloria, Lotti's Requiem, Beethoven's Chorfantasie, Charpentier's Te Deum and Mendelssohn's Magnificat. In Masterclasses and summer courses she worked with Patricia McCaffrey, John Norris, Rachelle Jonck, Helen Donath, Abbie Furmanski, Roberta Alexander and Kevin Short.
Ms. Coppens got her Bachelor degree in vocal studies at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp in the studio of Stephanie Friede. She graduated with great distinction. She received her Master’s degree in vocal performance at the Frost school of music at the University of Miami. Ms. Coppens studied with Mezzo-soprano Robynne Redmon was awarded full scholarship and a teaching assistantship.
Ms. Coppens currently studies with Margreet Honig at the Dutch National Opera Academy in Amsterdam.
